Sometimes our day just doesn't go to plan due to limitations outside of our control. To be honest, that's most days right?! Um hello, kids....
I've been going through some minor health limitations over the past few days that made me think more about this topic. So I wanted to share in order to help us all reduce our frustrations when we can't accomplish our plans for the day.
We have to recognize what our body or our kids are telling us then get to a neutral state where we can move forward with a new expectation for the day instead of moving ahead full of frustration and defeat.
Join me in this perspective shift pep talk today and also hear from a little special guest who shares our weekly goal from last week!
With bold love, peace and intention,
Julie

Happy July! It's time to check in on those summertime expectations. If you're feeling unproductive most days then it's probably because you haven't adjusted your expectations for this season. You most likely cannot do the same tasks or at least have the same schedule during the summer when kids are at home with you.
So instead of continuing to feel unproductive and being resentful you can't get things done... lets reset our daily plans to accommodate the summer season. It's important to identify what is realistically possible during this time while spending more time meeting the needs of your kids.
There's 2 parts to making this shift. We adjust our expectations and then we implement the 3 win day method to make sure we still have productive days. Listen in for how to use this method to make sure you finish your day feeling good about how you spent your time!
With bold love, peace and intention,
Julie

Work-life balance is something everyone is familiar with. It's something we never feel like we can achieve consistently. Well maybe part of the problem is that we use the word "balance" which really isn't serving us well. Stay tuned for a much better word that provides powerful insight into what we are actually striving for.
A couple key takeaways from today's conversation:
-The theme of hustle and burnout is what we are teaching our kids is normal adulthood... that is what we are showing an as example for them to replicate.
-Feeling guilty is a choice you make
-Use self awareness to make decisions about your life/schedule and then own it

The kids are out of school and it's summer time mode. Checking in with you today to see how you're doing? Sometimes those first couple weeks don't go as well as we had hoped....
We're having a little chat about how to resolve that. It might be that we need to re-evaluate our plans and make some tweaks. Or simply learn to be ok when some days don't go as planned.
One thing we always have to plan is... dinner. Doing a quick chat on that as well because I've just released Meal Planning 101! A quick video training with resources to take away the stress of never knowing what's for dinner.

We all know what it's like to wait. Usually one of our least favorite activities whether its waiting for something good like an amazing dinner at our favorite restaurant or for something bad like waiting on a doctor's report.
I've realized that our life is pretty much a constant waiting game. Some things or people take a longer season of waiting but every day of our lives involves some amount of waiting. So it's worth exploring how we can have a better view of this time.
Today's chat is about exploring this topic and reframing our mindset around this time. I've got a question for you to consider and things to think about to change your perspective on waiting....

We always want to know ways to be a better parent for our kids, right? Well there's so much to learn in all the current trendy topics of gentle parenting and realizing we have a lot to unlearn as well.
That's the journey I'm on and bringing you the science behind understanding the brain and emotional development of our kids. That's how we can better empathize and parent them when we understand what they're literally capable of and what their true needs are behind those behavior outbursts.
I've really been needing help figuring out how we go from naming our kids emotions with them to actually correcting the behavior we don't want. Today's guest, Anya, is here to help us do that! A quick highlight of our conversation:
1. All emotions are ok just not all behaviors - Instead of rushing to stop the behavior pause and think about what is my child really telling me through their behavior?
2. Consider the 3 reasons for challenging behaviors: developmental stage, difficult conditions and figuring out boundaries
3. How to create patterns/routines to facilitate safe boundaries that reduce unwanted behavior
4. Boundaries are not punishments. It's literally what the child needs at that stage to learn physical and relational limits
Anya Dunham is a research scientist and a mom of three young children. She has a PhD in Biology and studies ecology: the ways living things relate to one another and interact with their environment. One of her strengths, in work and in life, is connecting seemingly unconnected pieces of knowledge. In her award-winning book, Baby Ecology, she looks at child development research through the lens of her scientific field to help parents create the most nurturing environment for their babies.

Morning routines feel like one of those magical unicorns of time that we can never get quite right. Well it's time to take morning routines off the pedestal and figure out what's actually going to work for you... not based on some made up expectation. Whether your goal is truly the ideal and best routine or not, if it's not happening and you can't get it to work then it's time to move on to another good plan.
-What you want and what is best won't always work and that's ok-
-If you wake up before your kids, that time doesn't have to be "productive"-
-You may just have the wrong order or the wrong amount of things in that block of time-
Want more productivity help? Don't miss out on the Purpose Driven Productivity summit where I'm a featured speaker among 14 others. This is a free event to give your motherhood and mompreneur journey a boost! Save your spot today to get access June 12th - 16th 2023! https://pdpsummit.live/Julie

Summer break is upon us! June is here and it's the unofficial start of summer. We've been working on making plans for summer but equally as important is to communicate those plans with your family.
Avoid planning activities that your kids don’t actually want to do by actually communicating with them up front on what some plans are for the summer. Let's eliminate some of the drama and unnecessary stress by getting on the same page with everyone.
Don't forget to check your expectations - are they realistic and necessary for the summer season?
And don't forget about Dad... Father's day is coming up and there's one key thing to make him feel extra valued and appreciated.
Ok let's set these expectations...
With bold love, peace and intention,
Julie

As moms, we're always trying to figure out how to get everything done. Find ways to get more time in our day... that's where habit stacking can be a helpful tool to increase our productivity.
Find the more mindless tasks in your day and pair a productive task. It could be simply being able to get household tasks done by pairing quality time activities with your kids. Or getting some me time in while you're doing the dishes. Let's start brainstorming ways to stack habits into our mom life shall we?!
