Today we are helping work through one of our main struggles as a parent. What to do when your kid is upset and there is no logical reason and we get beyond frustrated trying to handle the situation. Ever hand them the thing they want or make the food they ask for and they have a complete meltdown? Can I get a witness?!
Well today, Ann is here to give us some amazing insight into how to handle these situations different. And it really makes so much sense! Listen all the way through to get all the practical takeaways to put in your parenting toolbelt.
One of my favorite takeaways - Most tantrums are not a problem we need to solve.
Connect with Ann:
"I know you; I see you. And I've been you."After working with parents for over a decade and raising 4 of her own kids, Ann has seen it all and lived through half of it herself. She knows the cycle of committing to being the parent your child deserves, losing control, feeling awful, and committing to being better next time. She has seen the yelling, power struggles, and confusion. She knows all about the uselessness of threatening, bribing, bargaining, and lecturing. And, most of all, Ann knows how powerless, lost, defeated, overwhelmed, and ashamed parenthood can make us feel.Luckily, she also knows that you absolutely can turn your relationship with your child around and that peaceful, well-behaved, and respectful kids aren't just for the lucky few. It's possible for you too!

Most of our time as moms is spent thinking about how we mess up...how we aren't doing something, or everything right. It seems we only give ourselves a choice of pass or fail.
It's pretty unfair to do that to ourselves. And to compare how well we are doing with what we see and hear around us. So let's work on that mindset shall we?
It's time for more grace.
Less telling ourselves we are constantly falling short.
More time thinking about the overall average of how we are doing, not the pass or fail in the moment by moment mentality.
With bold love, peace and intention,
Julie

Motherhood is certainly challenging and can be full of frustration. However, a lot of our stress can come from having the wrong expectations for ourselves and our kids. Today's conversation with Karen is incredibly helpful in navigating motherhood. Here's some highlights of our conversation:Expectations for ourselves-
stop the “what ifs” and stay in the moment
no season lasts forever
new mercies every morning
always give thanks
Expectations for our kids-
remember their abilities at their age - not “they should know better”
appropriate school goals - what’s their best for that subject
teaching balance
adjust our timing to the pace of our kids, not the other way around
Big takeaway for our main goal-
Show love to give the first example of God’s love in your kids lives.

When Karen was a young mom, her husband was often away from home serving as a fighter pilot during Operation Desert Storm. During those years, Karen grew in her reliance on God. Today, Karen is passionate about challenging moms to invite God into their journey of motherhood.
Birds on a Wire reaches tens of thousands of moms each month through their podcast, Wire Talk, which answers practical questions about the everyday difficulties moms face.

I'm sharing a few regrets with you today. We know mom guilt is all too real. So let's have a quick chat about some things you may have in common with me. And some shifts to avoid the regrets.
Here's a highlight:1. First year of life - stop the pressure and enjoy more.2. Stop reading/listening to mom advice when it starts making you feel like a bad mom3. Multi-tasking motherhood and work doesn't often work4. More quality time with kids5. Overall theme of enjoying more in motherhood
Let's be intentional in our motherhood and pay attention to when we need to make shifts before things turn into regrets. You're doing great mom, we can do this!
With bold love, peace and intention,
Julie

Do you feel like you're picking up toys all day? Your kid is always dumping them all over the floor and never putting them away in the right place?
I've got all the practical strategies for you today to deal with the chaos of toys! Here's a highlight of the main points:
1. Always start with decluttering before organizing (no point in organizing what you don't need to keep, not a fan of wasting time around here!)
2. Sort everything into categories... but not too specific
3. The key to organizing is the type of bin you use
4. A list of helpful organizing ideas with a reminder that it has to function for your kid (not you) and not just pick something because it looks cool
Ok- it's time to email or dm me your favorite tip or share yours so I can help spread the word to help more moms!

Debatably one of the most stressful times of the day is around dinner time. Trying to get dinner made (after figuring out what you're even having for dinner) while keeping track of runaway toddlers, bored kids and everyone interrupting you with their list of needs.
We try to balance getting everyone fed and dealing with household chores while feeling the need to also have quality time as a family. Well today I'm running through a whole list of ideas of how to keep everyone occupied before and after dinner while checking all the boxes!
This is definitely an episode to share with your friends to help everyone have a more sane evening schedule. Message me which ideas you're most excited to try and what other ideas you came up with - would love to share your idea and give you a shoutout on the podcast next month!
With bold love, peace and intention,
